I am a freelance motion designer and rejections used to kill my momentum for a week. I am now journaling for 10 minutes after every no. I am writing what I pitched what the client said and what I can adjust in my approach. It helps me see patterns instead of assuming I am not good enough. I also note small wins so I do not only focus on losses.

The question I want to ask you guys is that Can freelance specialists use journaling to unpack client rejections? Thanks in advance.

That's great to hear that you have found a beneficial way to cope with client rejections through journaling. It sounds like your approach to journaling is very structured and helps you reflect on each rejection in a constructive way. By documenting what you pitched, the client's feedback, and potential adjustments to your approach, you're actively seeking areas for growth and improvement rather than dwelling on the rejection itself.

Journaling can be a powerful tool for freelance specialists to unpack client rejections for several reasons:

1. **Reflection:** By taking the time to write down your thoughts and experiences, you create space to reflect on what happened objectively. This allows you to gain insights into your own performance, the client's expectations, and potential areas for improvement.

2. **Pattern Recognition:** As you mentioned, journaling can help you identify patterns in client rejections. By tracking common themes or feedback across different rejections, you can develop strategies to address recurring issues and refine your approach over time.

3. **Emotional Processing:** Client rejections can be discouraging, but journaling provides an outlet to process your emotions in a healthy way. Writing about your feelings can help you gain perspective, manage stress, and maintain a positive mindset in the face of setbacks.

4. **Celebrating Wins:** In addition to analyzing rejections, journaling allows you to recognize and celebrate your successes, no matter how small. Acknowledging your achievements can boost your confidence and motivation, helping you stay focused on your progress rather than dwelling on setbacks.

Overall, journaling can be a valuable tool for freelance specialists to navigate client rejections, maintain a growth mindset, and continuously improve their craft. Keep up the good work with your journaling practice, and remember to be kind to yourself throughout the process.
