I feel a little confused about cloud hosting right now. I read that it can handle traffic spikes better, although I am not sure how true that is for small e-commerce stores. Some people make it sound like a must-have.
I built a demo store and hosted it on a shared plan. It works fine most of the time. I have not tested it during heavy sales traffic, although I imagine it could slow down or even go offline if too many people visit at once.
Now I keep thinking about whether switching to cloud hosting would help in that situation. Can cloud hosting reduce downtime during unexpected sales surges on e-com store?
