I want to engage in building back links for the my website so that it will rank higher on SERP for target keywords. I want to engage in guest posting and editorial backlinks. I'm wondering if forum backlinks are still effective for SEO these days.

I understand forum links used to be a popular way to build links, but with all the algorithm changes, I'm not sure if they still carry weight. Is it good to still do forum backlink building should I focus on other types of link-building strategies? I'd love to hear from anyone who's used forum backlinks recently and seen good results.

I think forum backlinks can still help a little, but they don't have the same power as links from high-quality websites. If you join forums in your niche and add helpful answers with a link to your site, it can drive some traffic and maybe small SEO value. If you actually hang out in forums, give helpful answers, and share useful stuff, a link from your profile or signature can bring some traffic and a little SEO boost. Just spamming links won't do anything good
