It's probably because even if you're keeping it short, there's a lot going on in the message. You might be packing in ideas, emotions, or just a lot of info that makes the reader think more. Also, if your layout is kinda squished together with big paragraphs and no breaks, it can make even a short piece feel longer. Maybe try breaking it up with bullet points or a couple more spaces between sections

I feel this happens when the message is not very clear from the start. Even if the email is short, if the reader has to think too much to understand the point, it feels long. When the main idea is simple and comes early, the whole email feels lighter and easier to read.
