Ask Why do some clients push for hourly billing when a fixed project rate would be fairer for everyone?

This is a conversation many freelancers have had at least once. A client insists on paying by the hour, even when the project has a clear scope and a fixed rate would give both sides more certainty. Hourly billing can lead to disputes over time tracked and leaves the client worried about how long things are taking. A project rate removes a lot of that back and forth. So why do some clients still prefer the hourly model even when it creates more complications for everyone?

Some of them thought that it might take lesser time to finish the task instead of going for a whole bundle. It is a system in which they are trying to underpay you for the service you are offering them. You can increase the hourly pay that will match the exact amount next time they are requesting for it.
