Ask Should I rely on YouTube to learn digital marketing?

Many have suggested learning digital marketing on YouTube. While I will not easily negate that idea, I do believe that digital marketing is too technical of a course to be learnt on YouTube. This is because most YouTube channel owners are doing it for the traffic not that they have the vast knowledge of the topics.

Aside that, since YouTube learning is free, there may not more in depth knowledge on it except if one subscribes to the premium version.
 
I think YouTube is a good place to start learning digital marketing, especially for beginners who want to understand the basics and see real examples. There's a lot of useful content out there, but the challenge is filtering quality information from creators who truly know the subject versus those just chasing views. On its own, YouTube may not always give deep, structured knowledge, so it's better used as a ---------- rather than the main learning source. Combining YouTube with paid courses, certifications, or hands-on practice usually gives a more solid and reliable learning experience.
 
You'll find free, up-to-date tutorials on SEO, Google Ads, and social media strategy from creators like HubSpot or Neil Patel. That's gold for beginners. But here's the catch: it's uncurated. Random "gurus" promise viral hacks that don't work, and the algorithm loves flashy clickbait over real strategy. Plus, passive watching tricks you into thinking you've learned something. So use YouTube to learn the lingo and tactics, then immediately practice with a small project or free certification.
 
YouTube is a good place to start, but it shouldn't be the only thing you rely on. Platforms like YouTube can teach you basics in a simple way, but many videos don't go deep enough. You still need to practice what you learn to really understand it.
