Instructors who aren't active on the platform don't get consequences, but they do lose authenticity because they don't get much exposure. It's really important for instructors to be on the platform, at least to improve their rankings and stay noticed.

The platform might be where admin posts updates, deadlines, or resource shares. Miss those, and you could show up to a meeting clueless about a new policy or a curriculum change. Also, colleagues might assume you're not pulling your weight if collaboration happens there. In some cases, low activity could even affect performance reviews if the platform is tied to PD tracking or communication expectations.
 
Students might feel ignored or stuck if they're asking questions and no one is replying quickly. That can make the class feel less active or less organized. Sometimes announcements or updates get missed too, which can cause confusion. In some cases, admins might notice low activity, but it's usually not about punishment, more about engagement and how the course is running. That said, it's not like you have to be online all the time. Even checking in now and then helps a lot.
