Raising rates is something most freelancers dread, but it has to happen at some point. Some people give clients a heads-up weeks before the new rate kicks in, and that seems to help. Others raise rates only for new clients and keep the old ones on the current price for a while. The problem is that you cannot stay at the same rate forever and still grow.
