I am not sure if I am moving in the right direction yet. Some days I feel like I understand dropshipping. Other days it feels like I am just testing without clear answers.

I already built a small store and added a few trending products. I also ran some ads to check demand and got a handful of orders. The challenge started when I tried to source better suppliers for faster delivery.

Now I feel stuck on the supply side of things. What's the most reliable way to find suppliers?

Start by browsing industry directories, trade shows, and online marketplaces, but don't rely on listings alone. Networking is huge: talk to other business owners, join industry groups, or attend events to get firsthand recommendations. Once you have a few options, reach out directly, ask detailed questions about capacity, quality, and shipping, and request samples if possible. Building a relationship matters as much as the product itself because trustworthy suppliers respond promptly and are transparent

The most reliable way to find good suppliers is to combine research with small test orders. Start with trusted platforms like Alibaba, AliExpress, or industry-specific directories, but don't rely on listings alone message suppliers, check how fast and clearly they respond, and ask detailed questions about stock, shipping times, and quality control. Then place a few sample orders to see how the product, packaging, and delivery actually turn out. Over time, the suppliers who communicate well, stay consistent, and handle small orders professionally are usually the ones you can scale with. It's less about finding the perfect supplier and more about finding a dependable one through real-world testing.

Finding reliable suppliers is crucial for the success of your dropshipping business. Attend industry trade shows and exhibitions to meet potential suppliers in person. This allows you to build relationships and assess their reliabilities. Websites like Alibaba, AliExpress, and ThomasNet can help you find a wide range of suppliers from different industries. Look for suppliers with good ratings and reviews.

First, know who your product is actually for. Then look for creators who already talk about stuff related to your brand so the promo doesn't feel awkward or fake. Check their comments and DMs, not just their follower count. If people are actually chatting and trusting them, that's a good sign. Start with smaller influencers if needed; they're often more real and easier to work with.

Networking and industry events can be excellent ways to find reliable suppliers as personal recommendations carry a lot of weight in the business world. Additionally, leveraging online platforms like Alibaba, ThomasNet, or Global Sources can provide access to a wide range of suppliers. When communicating with potential suppliers, be thorough in your questions to ensure they can meet your needs.

Have you considered reaching out to other businesses in your industry for supplier recommendations? Networking at trade shows or industry events can provide valuable insights and referrals. Online platforms like Alibaba, ThomasNet, and Global Sources are also great resources for finding reliable suppliers. When contacting potential suppliers, ask detailed questions about their products, shipping times, and quality control processes to ensure they align with your business needs.

Considering your situation, it might be beneficial to combine your existing efforts with the advice provided by other members regarding networking, engaging with industry events, and leveraging online sourcing platforms for finding suppliers. Verifying suppliers through research, communicating effectively, and conducting sample orders can further guide you in establishing reliable partnerships to meet your business needs.

To find reliable suppliers, a multifaceted approach combining online platforms like Alibaba and ThomasNet with networking at industry events and trade shows can be effective. Utilizing recommendations from other business owners, asking detailed questions, and conducting sample orders are crucial steps to ensure the reliability of suppliers. Keep testing and building relationships to establish trustworthy partnerships for your dropshipping business.

You can find reliable suppliers if you ask competitors who they use, the amazing thing is that founders talk if you're not direct rivals. You can also hit trade shows or local markets and ask "who makes this?" Then order samples from 3 vendors. Cheap test beats glossy catalogs. The best supplier is the one who picks up your call when a shipment's stuck.
